Professional code for sociotherapists

General premises

Professional treatment

  • The sociotherapist satisfies the described criteria of the function profile, which are drawn up by the Society for the Furtherance of Sociotherapy and which are recognized by the relevant professional organizations.
     
  • The sociotherapist is personally responsible for the way in which he performs his professional work.
     
  • The sociotherapist keeps up to date with the knowledge and skills necessary to adequate professional practice.
     
  • The sociotherapist is aware of and takes into account the limits of his own professional area.
     
  • The sociotherapist tests his actions against the contents of this professional code
     
  • The sociotherapist supports activities which further professional development and also takes the initiative in this area
     
  • The sociotherapist is aware of the legal position of the client, respects this and if required informs the client about what this means.
     
  • The sociotherapist shows, with due regard to the aims of the institution that he is attached to, a similar basic relationship towards every client.

General cooperation

  • the sociotherapist cooperates as a member of a team in realizing a responsible range of sociotherapeutic activities
     
  • the sociotherapist contributes, by means of his own professional knowledge and skills, to the aims of the institution where he works
     
  • the sociotherapist is aware of the nature and significance of the profession of each worker who is professionally involved with the client
