The sociotherapist in relation to the client

Sociotherapeutic interventions

  • The sociotherapist stimulates the awakening of the client to his own potentials and to taking responsibility for his own behavior.
     
  • The sociotherapist stimulates the active participation of the client in his treatment.
     
  • The aim of the relationship of the sociotherapist with the clients is that the clients learn from each other, from the sociotherapists and other members of the treatment team, and to increase their problem solving possibilities.
     
  • The sociotherapist intervenes when a client in the community causes a situation that hinders the increase of the problem solving powers.
     
  • The sociotherapist keeps an overall picture of all the sociotherapeutic treatment activities and makes sure that these form a coherent whole, and do not make contradictory demands on the client.

Ethics

  • The sociotherapist shows understanding of the existential values of the client.
     
  • The sociotherapist makes in no way at all misuse of the authority and responsibility entrusted in him.
     
  • The sociotherapist makes no attempts of sexual approaches and does not act upon any approach made by the client.
     
  • The sociotherapist does not approach the client in an aggressive manner.
     
  • The sociotherapist does not undertake any business transactions with the client and accepts no gifts.
     
  • In the case of disputes between the client and the sociotherapist, the sociotherapist refers the client to the appropriate instances.
     
  • The sociotherapist maintains secrecy about what he learns during the execution of his profession.
     
  • He does not retain any information in the case of the treatment team of which he is part. The sociotherapist makes sure the client is informed about this.
     
  • The sociotherapist does not collect more details than are necessary to perform his duty and attends to responsible file management for these details.
     
  • The sociotherapist motivates his cooperative relationship with those people who, by reason of another profession, have dealings with the client, as good as possible towards the client.
